Far left is my paternal
grandfather, George Nolda, next his
youngest son, Wilbur. Next Mr. and
Mrs. Fink. (Don't know their first
names and there's nobody left to
ask.) Photo taken in Ravenna, circa
1943. George's two oldest sons,
Herb and Virg, were off fighting in
the War. (Herb was my dad.) Both
sons returned OK from the war and
Grandpa and his three sons greatly
enjoyed pheasant hunting in the
late 40s. Then when the Korean War
broke out, Wilbur was drafted and
sent to Korea. He excitedly wrote
that he saw ring-necked pheasants
over there. It was October and he
lamented that he wasn't home to go
pheasant hunting with his dad and
brothers, but stated, "I'll be home
next year and we'll give 'em hell."
He was killed in action a month
later.
