View migrating
shorebirds
All month | Anywhere with proper
habitat
May is the peak of spring shorebird migration
in Nebraska. With proper habitat – shallow
water and mud – shorebirds will gather in the
Rainwater Basin and eastern saline wetlands,
reservoirs and other bodies of water. It's great
birdwatching, as shorebirds will let you get
closer than other species. Just take it slow
and give birds a little bit of space.
