PORTRAITS FROM THE PAST
This photo of Pete Pedersen, my father,
was taken in the 1960s after a successful
hunt near the Ponca or Obert areas. He is
holding his homemade .30-06 with walnut
stock.
He fashioned deerhide "blinders" for
his eyeglasses to prevent sun glare when
aiming. He was photographed at his
acreage at Belden. My brothers were Arlen
and Dan, both of whom often went by
"Pete."
– Jane Pedersen Jensen, Plainview
Families from Omaha, Clay County and Adams County
had a tradition of getting together on opening day of the
pheasant hunting season. 1977 was another successful
hunt with their limit by 9:20 a.m.
Members of this hunting party were Mike Olson, Curtis
Olson, Ron Jensen, Ron Phelps, Mike Murman, Carl
Murman, Craig Murman, Dan Murman, Dennis Murman,
Scott Olson, Elmer Murman and Vaughan Phelps.

Hastings
