Learn about Native
American history at Fort
Atkinson
Aug. 3-4 | Fort Atkinson State Historical Park
This living history weekend includes the "Wardance and
Gourd Dance of the Umonhon Nation," a dance honoring
Native American veterans; and a presentation by Eagle
T. Knife Chief, a descendant of a Pawnee leader who
signed the Treaty of Friendship at Fort Atkinson in 1825.
Visitors can also view a traveling Smithsonian exhibit
about the history of Native American veterans in the
U.S. military.

Parks at the state fair
Aug. 23-Sept. 2 | Grand Island
The Game and Parks exhibit in the Nebraska
Building features a 6,000-gallon aquarium fi lled
with fi sh found in Nebraska waters, an indoor
archery and air gun range, and fun educational
activities for all ages. Outside, you can fi nd a sky
fort, meandering stream, natural playground and
more.

River Outdoor Expo
Sept. 21-22 | Ponca State Park
Celebrate our outdoor heritage with
more than 90 free, hands-on exhibits,
demonstrations, vendors and activities
including kayaking, fi shing, outdoor
cooking, rock climbing and more. A state
park permit is required for each vehicle
entering the park.
