View and photograph native sparrows Throughout the month | Statewide With about 18 species migrating through the state in October, sparrows are one of the most visible groups of birds this month. Most species can be found in brushy, grassy areas. Not too excited about viewing sparrows? Give them another look, suggests Game and Parks' nongame bird program manager Joel Jorgensen. "Some of these sparrows, once you get a close up view of them, can be stunning," he said.
