October 2019 • Nebraskaland 61 took off and my arms straightened out as they broke my grip. In the end all turned out well – the coyote was caught. Another time I was driving the pickup with Uncle Charlie riding shotgun. We were trying to get ahead of a coyote to release the dogs. We had just made a turn to go up a hill. Uncle Charlie said to me, "Hurry up!" I replied, "I have the gas pedal floor-boarded!" He said, "I don't care, get going!" We did make the catch that day. The photo above shows (from left to right): Wayne Shafer, my brother; David Harshberger, a friend; Terry Shafer, my cousin; and me – taken in 1960. – Lonnie Shafer, York
