46 Nebraskaland • November 2019 A rainbow over the Republican River in Red Willow County seems especially colorful after the leaves have fallen. A dmittedly, the return to the Midwest seem ed like a heavy dose of blah compared to the vibrant scenes we had just witnessed down south. In addition, it was quite dissimilar to the scene the same vegetation had given us just weeks and months before. For then, those green trees and plants were busy using light and water to convert carbon dioxide to oxygen and the sugar they need to live and grow.
