42 Nebraskaland • November 2019 Outdoor Nebraska By Renae Blum Put on a jacket and get outdoors! You'll fi nd plenty out there to refresh your senses and make memories, including wildlife viewing, hiking and fi shing. For details on the events listed below, visit Calendar.OutdoorNebraska.gov. N Hike a wooded trail Throughout the month | Statewide November is a good month for hiking. With foliage receding, you'll have a clearer view of the many species of wildlife out and about at this time. Also, no need to worry about nettles, gnats or ticks, but it remains a good idea to wear blaze orange on these hikes. Go on the Bighorn Sheep Hike Nov. 2, 10 a.m. | Wildcat Hills State Recreation Area This hike is your opportunity to explore the habitat of the Wildcat Hills' bighorn sheep, with the chance at spotting them in their natural surroundings. Staff will use radio telemetry to try to pinpoint the bighorns' location. It might be a long hike, so come prepared with water, weather-appropriate clothing and hiking shoes, and expect to hike uneven ground with tall grass.
