68 Nebraskaland • November 2019 PORTRAITS FROM THE PAST This is my dad, Leo Kautzman, and me (on the way to school) in 1965, with our previous night's harvest from setting lines. He and my mother, Lois, were proprietors of the local meat market. They worked long, hard hours Monday through Saturday, but, being a religious man, he went to the Church of the Elkhorn River every Sunday that he could, as well as many evenings! The big fish was a 12-pound, 5-ounce flathead. – Tim Kautzman, Elkhorn
