This photo was taken in the mid-1970s, when pheasants were plentiful in
the Rising City area. It was opening day of the season, and we seven hunters
harvested 20 roosters. On the left is our dad, Ellis McClintick, a WWII veteran
now 97 years old. He doesn't hunt anymore, but does golf 18 holes three days
a week. The other hunters are brothers: Phil, Tom and me, Jim McClintick. The
most striking character in the photo is our German shorthaired pointer, "Duke."
On this day several snapshots were taken and in each one, with no prompting,
Duke planted himself in the center foreground of each one.
