Use a turkey target, safe backstop and eye and ear protection. Start at 20-25 yards and move back as you feel comfortable, checking for holes and looking at the density of the pattern. View grouse courtship dances Throughout the month | Western and central Nebraska and some southeastern locations Strutting, stamping, leaping and whirling – greater prairie- chicken and sharp-tailed grouse courtship displays are sights to see. Males also utter a deep cooing call, referred to as "booming," that may be heard a mile away. Viewing opport unities include free, self-guided blinds on public land and guided blind visits packaged with lodging and/or breakfast. Attend 'Reading the Rocks' April 4, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Schramm Park Education Center Rocks that outcrop at Schramm Park State Recreation Area display millions of years of history. Come explore what these rocks can teach us alongside expert geologists, who will be on-site from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Find your own fossils in the outcrop and explore hands- on learning stations where you can examine rocks and fossils.
