Solomon (Sam) Kufeldt, my dad's
brother, fishing in the late 1950s.
He wrote on the back of the picture
that the two catfish weighed 7½
pounds and 6½ pounds. The third
is a carp. They were caught on set
lines in the North Platte River near
Bridgeport.
A German from Russia, he
immigrated to the U.S. as a 3-year-
old in 1914. World War II veteran,
awarded Purple Heart after his
vehicle struck a mine in North
Africa. He loved to fish!
