November 2020 • Nebraskaland 57 This was my dad's, Harry Newill, houseboat up at Gavins Point Dam in the 1960s. There were gobs of houseboats then; the dam was completed in 1957. The other picture is of my mom, Ruth Newill, catching a fish while on the houseboat. – Paula Stromquist, Oakland Pictured is my brother, Bob Knerl, upon returning from his duck blind near Ponca State Park in November of 1958. He was unable to overcome the urge of stopping at our home and proudly showing the Canada goose that he had just shot to my two sons: Kelly, age 2; and Jeff, age 8. This photo was taken in the doorway of our home in Ponca as my wife would not allow Bob farther entrance with his boots and the dead goose.
