TOP LEFT: The peak migration of northern flickers occurs in
late March and early April statewide.
TOP RIGHT: The red-breasted nuthatch is a low-density
winter visitor spread evenly statewide, with small numbers
present each year and erratic increases in certain years.
MIDDLE LEFT: The western meadowlark winters over most of
Nebraska, although numbers vary considerably annually.
MIDDLE RIGHT: The Say's phoebe breeds commonly
throughout the drier areas in the Panhandle and southwest.
BOTTOM LEFT: Pygmy nuthatches prefer to breed in open
woodlands in dry canyons and on ridgetops west.
