April 2021 • Nebraskaland 129 Take in the views You don't have to ride a horse to enjoy the park's scenic buttes and valleys. The park features about 130 miles of trails that are open year-round. People also can rent a Jeep ride to the top of the Cheyenne Buttes, or motor up the Smiley Canyon Scenic Drive or Soldier Creek Road. 3 See an old-fashioned rodeo True to its Old West roots, Fort Robinson hosts weekly rodeos to entertain guests and keep staff and other area cowpokes on top of their skills. 5 Stay in historical lodging Fort Robinson has garnered national recognition as a great place to have a family reunion. One reason is its historical buildings that have been converted to visitor lodging. The buildings are roomy enough to keep distance between you and your mother-in-law, while sleeping under the same roof that housed an 1800s U.S. Cavalry offi cer —a rare opportunity. 4 JUSTIN HAAG, NEBRASKALAND JUSTIN HAAG, NEBRASKALAND JUSTIN HAAG, NEBRASKALAND
