November 2021 • Nebraskaland 23 C reated by Douglas, the Commission's communications division connects people with outdoor Nebraska through marketing and public relations, social media, special events and programs, outreach and skills-based education. These efforts have helped grow the agency's customer base and participation in many outdoor activities, such as hunting, fishing, boating, camping and wildlife viewing. "Jim Douglas was key to the development of the Recruitment, Retention and Reactivation plan. He understands that the Commission needs to create opportunities for our user groups. He also knows how important it is to keep our sportsmen and sportswomen actively engaged if our outdoor heritage and traditions are going to remain healthy and survive. This is why you can always count on Jim Douglas to work tirelessly to make R3 a success." – Mark Pinkerton, former Nebraska Game and Parks Commissioner Creation of family-friendly shooting ranges and the addition of ranges at parks across the state have helped grow shooting sports participation. JENNY NGUYEN-WHEATLEY, NEBRASKALAND One of the many successful ways Douglas has worked to recruit youth has been through supporting mentored hunting programs and skills-based education programs.
