The number of gravel roads in Nebraska seems
endless, as are the images to be captured while
traveling them. Keep these tips in mind when
trying to photograph from your vehicle.
•
Pull completely off the road. Don't stop on a
hill where other vehicles coming from the other
side can't see you, and turn on your hazard lights.
•
Use a window mount, sandbag or bath towel
to steady your camera on the window sill.
•
Snowy scenes can fool your camera's light
meter and result in underexposed images when
using automatic exposure settings. Overexpose
to insure you get the whitest of whites.
•
Some county roads will require higher
clearance than a car offers, or even four-wheel
drive. When in doubt, turn around, or you will
require something else: a tow strap.
•
Animals are used to cars. The distance you
might gain from stepping out of yours isn't worth
the chance of your photo subject running away.
