54 Nebraskaland • December 2021 MIXED BAG Widely abundant, squirrels offer a low-cost, accessible introduction to the sport of hunting. Join Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Dec. 4, 2021, for a workshop followed by a mentored squirrel hunt. This all-day event will take place at the Outdoor Education Center in Lincoln 8 a.m.-6 p.m. The workshop is open to ladies age 16 or older. The hands-on workshop is divided into two sessions. The morning session will address firearm handling, shooting techniques and target practice at the Outdoor Education Center. Participants will travel to squirrel woods near Lincoln for a guided hunt in the afternoon. Instructors also will cover field dressing and processing. The cost is $15 per person and covers instruction, materials and lunch. Registration is required. Purchase tickets through Calendar.OutdoorNebraska.gov.
