April | Statewide in woodlands
Foraging for morels is a great way to spend
a spring day. Morels tend to be fi ckle, but
they often emerge on warm, sunny days
following spring rains, and can be found
in both moist fl oodplain and upland
woodlands. Look for them at the base of
cottonwoods and elms that have recently
died.
