JENNY NGUYEN-WHEATLEY, NEBRASKALAND Outdoor Adventure event at Indian Cave State Park April 23 | Shubert, Nebraska This popular event returns for its 11th year, featuring a mushroom hunting contest, 5K or 1-mile run, fi sh fry, black powder gun demonstration and history reenactments. ERIC FOWLER, NEBRASKALAND Morel mushroom hunting Season typically begins mid- to late April | Statewide in woodlands Foraging for morels is a great way to spend a spring day. Morels tend to be fi ckle, but they often emerge on warm, sunny days following spring rains, and can be found in both moist fl oodplain and upland woodlands.
