Fishing the Interstate • A Guide to the I-80 Lakes pond with good fi shing. Camping and boating are not allowed. Fish species: Largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfi sh, crappie, rock bass. Amenities: Modern restrooms. Directions: From Exit 272 at Kearney, go 2 miles west on I-80 to rest area. GPS coordinates: 40.670782, -99.122559 Kea West WMA This WMA has an 8-acre lake regulated as catch-and-release only for all fi sh species. No camping. Fish species: Smallmouth bass, crappie hybrid, yellow perch. Amenities: Concrete boat ramp. Directions: From Exit 272, go 1 mile north to 11th Street, turn left and go 1.3 miles west to Yanney Avenue. Turn left and go about 1 mile south to the area, which is on the left. GPS coordinates: 40.671942, -99.108871 Yanney Park Lake This 20-acre lake in Yanney Heritage Park is owned by the City of Kearney. Fish species: Largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfi sh, crappie, yellow perch, rainbow trout (stocked seasonally). Amenities: Wheelchair-accessible dock, restrooms. Directions: From Exit 272 at Kearney, go 1 mile north to 11th Street, turn left and go 1.3 miles west to Yanney Avenue. Turn left and go 0.3 miles south to the park on the left. GPS coordinates: 40.679820, -99.108578 Kea Lake WMA This WMA adjacent to I-80 has a 20- acre lake. No camping is permitted. Fish species: Largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfi sh, redear sunfi sh, crappie hybrid. Amenities: Concrete boat ramp. Directions: From Exit 272, go south a short distance on Highway 44 to the fi rst right turn, drive through the motel parking lot to get to the WMA parking area. GPS coordinates: 40.667720, -99.087708 Archway Lakes The Great Platte River Road Archway Monument has four lakes totaling 30 acres open for public fi shing. Lakes range in size from 1 to 25 acres and off er good opportunities for a variety of species. Fish Species: Lake 1 – Largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfi sh, crappie, common carp, tiger musky, yellow perch; Lake 2 – Smallmouth bass, yellow perch; Lake 3 – Smallmouth bass, black crappie, channel catfi sh; Lake 4 – Smallmouth bass, rock bass. Amenities: Gravel boat ramp on Lake 1. Directions: From Exit 275, go north 600 feet to East 1st Street.
