26 Nebraskaland • August-September 2023 Photograph blooming goldenrod Prime bloom is August and September | Statewide This showy plant grows quickly and can be found in prairies, along roadsides and in overgrazed pastures. Some may see it as a weed, but for many insects, such as certain bees, wasps and beetles, this is one of their only food sources during the fall months. Many bees will use the pollen from goldenrod to make honey. Snap a photo of these pollinators at work!
