It may have been a gall, an abnormal plant growth often caused by insects feeding on or laying eggs on the plant. The most common galls can be found on leaves, but they also form on stems and twigs, as well as buds and fl owers. If you're not sure if you've found a gall, you can cut it open; you may see a larva or pupa inside, or it may be hollow and fi lled with frass, or insect poop, left behind. CHRIS HELZER Haunted Camping at Enders Oct. 28-29 | Enders State Recreation Area Get in the Halloween spirit! Make plans to camp at Area A and enter the camper/campsite decorating contest.
