PORTRAITS FROM THE PAST
Deer hunting, 1953
This photo was taken in my grandfather Leon
Klanecky's "old red barn" back in 1953 after he shot this
mule buck northeast of Ord in the Oak Canyons. I spent
my childhood hunting in these canyons with my dad and
grandpa, and they have taught me everything I know
about deer hunting. My grandpa has since passed away,
but the memories in those hills will last forever. My dad,
Tom Klanecky (of Ord), and I still look forward to deer
hunting together every year.

Fishing a farm pond, 1978
My grandfather, Elmer W. Gydesen, was photographed
by my sister, Linda, while they were fishing a farm pond in
1978. His farm was about 9 miles north of Scotia. Some of my
favorite memories were while deer and coyote hunting with
him in my teen years.

Turkey hunt, 1980
Deer and turkey hunting were always enjoyed
at the Frank and Mary Prokop family farm in
Spencer.
Pictured from left is my brother Steve Pavlis,
Uncle Emanuel Prokop and my husband Keith
Bonner with their wild turkeys.
