ust as there are many kinds of birds in the world, there are also many tools that
biologists use to study them. Tracking changes in survival, body composition,
movement and location allows biologists to learn about the life histories,
behavioral patterns and ecology of birds. Among the many specialized tools needed
to study this diverse group of animals, there are a few standards that most avian
biologists can't do without.
