There is more than one shot to
make during a hunting trip

nyone who has hunted with me knows that
I'll have a camera in hand as often as my
gun.
I have such a fear of missing a good
photo — because of all the ones I have already
missed — that I'm willing to concede a shot from
my barrel to focus on a shot from my SLR.
The scenario was no diff erent this day on a Cass
County quail hunt.
It was my son's fi rst hunt for bobs, and I wanted
to make sure I chronicled it for the family photo
album — which we still have in leather-bound,
1970s-style form.
But to do so eff ectively — and to hopefully help
you in your quest of pursuing game and preserving
memories at the same time — I had to shoot as
many diff erent aspects as I could in the morning.
And I needed to do so before my son's 11-year-
old legs completely left him for the day.
