Find a nice dark area away from city lights, like a state park. Dress warmly and bring whatever you need for an epic night of stargazing — lawn chairs, blankets and a hot mug of cocoa or coff ee. Hope for cloudless skies and expect the best views to come just after midnight. Join Project FeederWatch, a community science project by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Birds Canada. Each year, from November to April, anyone can sign up to count birds from wherever you prefer to watch them. The Yule Log Festival includes kid-friendly crafts, a cookie decorating contest, marshmallow roasting, camp games and pictures with Santa.
