PORTRAITS FROM THE PAST
Waterfowl and jackrabbit hunting near Ohiowa, 1959 and 1958
I was looking through some pictures this weekend and found a few old pictures of my father from when he was a kid
enjoying the fine hunting opportunities that our state has to offer. He always loved the outdoors and is the person who
instilled my love for the outdoors, which I in return pass on to my children and others. He was very instrumental in my career
choice. Though he is no longer with us, his memory lives on.
The first picture is of my father, Layne Schelbitzki, and my grandfather, Loyd Schelbitzki, in December of 1959 after a
successful waterfowl hunt in the Ohiowa area.
The second picture is of my father with his cousin Jerry Dittmer, new dog and old farm cat. This is my father's first
jackrabbit with his new .410 shotgun at the family farm near Ohiowa in the late 1950s — I would guess 1958.

grasslands. Picture taken by Grandma
Amy who probably helped tired hunters
clean the birds.
