70 Nebraskaland • August-September 2025 MIXED BAG The Nebraska migratory waterfowl stamp features a redhead duck painted by Stephanie Zhang of Scottsbluff, a 14-year-old student of Bluffs Middle School. A panel chose Zhang's acrylic painting as best of show from 550 entries during judging at Scottsbluff's West Nebraska Arts Center in March. The artwork then advanced to national junior duck stamp competition, where it finished in the top 25. The annual contest, administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, is open to students in kindergarten through 12th grades. The Nebraska contest winner is honored by placement on the Game and Parks Commission's migratory waterfowl stamp, a required purchase for duck and goose hunters in the state. REDHEAD ON THIS YEAR'S WATERFOWL STAMP By Justin Haag This redhead duck painting by Stephanie Zhang, a 14-year-old student from Scottsbluff , will be placed on the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission's migratory waterfowl stamp.
