Hot Item: Propane
Coffeemaker
By Justin Haag
The old enamelware percolator over a morning campfire
may be fun but it doesn't exactly excel at brewing a lot of
coffee in a hurry at the campsite. That's why the Coleman
Portable Propane Coffeemaker has reached essential status
among my camping equipment.
The coffeemaker works much similar to an electrical unit
but with the freedom of propane. No longer am I required
to camp at a place with electricity in order to brew the
morning pot of coffee with speed and convenience. Just
a level surface and a
cylinder of propane get
the job done.
One word of caution:
The shiny stainless
steel carafe looks great
and holds up to the
rigors of the trail, but
it won't keep your
coffee hot for long.
After brewing, I pour
the pot of coffee into
a thermos and it stays
hot until it's gone. ■
