Opposite: Distracted by eating a freshly caught
squirrel, the female allows a close-up photo.
Being city hawks, they are used to humans
being around.
Above: A young hawk, only two months old,
clings to a power line above Lincoln.
Left: Mating season for the hawks lasts from
mid-February until the end of March. The hawks
would mate twice a day around the same time
each day. Mating would take place on light
poles and in trees.
