50 NEBRASKAland • JULY 2016 A family plays a game of keep-away on a beach at Victory Lake. People come from throughout eastern Nebraska to visit the lakes, 20 sandpits covering 300 acres combined, located 3 miles west of Fremont. In the 40 acres of parkland between the maze of lakes there is room for 200 campers and 600 tents, most with a lake outside your door and none more than 100 yards from water. But the area isn't just for campers. Fine sand swim beaches, picnic areas, good fishing and lakes open to tubers, wakeboarders, water-skiiers and Jet Skis keep the area abuzz on a summer weekend.
