JULY 2016 • NEBRASKAland 53
A family relaxes around their campsite on Lake No. 16, illuminated by the glow of their campfire.
The fun starts slowly, as the early risers light a breakfast fire and sip
coffee, or beat the crowd to their favorite fishing hole. By afternoon, the
beaches are full and boats are busy making lap after lap around Victory
Lake with tubers in tow. As the sun moves toward the horizon, the
activity slows. People head for their camp for dinner. They kick back
in their lawn chairs around the evening fire, sip a cold something and
watch the sun set over the water. Because that's what people like to do,
especially on a hot summer's evening.
