took this photo last August
at Indian Cave State Park.
Hanson said, "I took my
camera off of my tripod and
used the deck railing for this
shot. Long story short, I left
my tripod behind and went
home. The next weekend was
the first time I realized what
I did – I knew exactly where I
left it. I waited until Monday to
call the park office to see if by
chance someone turned it in.
To my surprise someone did
turn it in. Saved me several
hundred dollars and helped
renew my faith in humanity."
State Fair Winner
Congratulations to Lorvey Stark,
of Lincoln, whose photograph of
a black-throated bunting southeast
of Anselmo was the winner of
the "Wild and Scenic Nebraska"
category at the Nebraska Stair Fair.
Stark captured the photograph
during a weekend trip to the
Sandhills with friend Mark Lukin.
"Mark and I were attracted by
the huge pile of corn just off the
highway and stopped to take photos
of the grain bins and the corn pile.
As we were leaving the area, the
bunting and several other birds
landed near us on the dry weeds.
It stayed with us and posed for
several shots."
