8 | Boating Safety Info: 402-471-5462 LIGHTING All vessels in use from sunset to sunrise shall display lights as specified. No other lights may be used, except a spotlight for difficult navigation. • Every white light prescribed shall be visible at a distance of at least 2 miles. • Every colored light prescribed shall be visible at a distance of at least 1 mile, showing green to starboard and red to port and screened to show from dead ahead to 22.5 degrees rearward on the respective side. • All mechanically powered sailboats shall display the lights required for that class of mechanically powered boat. • All motorboats and sailboats shall carry a lantern or flashlight for emergencies. • All anchored vessels shall display the 360-degree white light, except while anchored in a docking or anchorage area.
