What to Do in January and February
First Day Hikes
Jan. 1 | Various Locations
Start the year off on the trail at one of the
Nebraska Game and Parks Commission's
First Day Hikes. These guided events across
the state educate participants about the
winter season and the flora and fauna that
call these locations home. From the vistas at
Chadron State Park to the prairie and wooded
views at Rock Creek Station, these hikes
are an essential way to start your new year
happy and healthy. A valid 2026 Nebraska
state park vehicle permit is required for
entry. Visit Calendar.OutdoorNebraska.gov
for more information.
