98 Nebraskaland • June 2026 Portrait s from the Past With My Granddad, 1968 Each issue, we rely on you, our Nebraskaland family, to supply photographs for the ever-popular Portraits from the Past department. This month, it's our turn. In this image, captured by Richard Voges of Nebraskaland, Enfrid Nelson and his 7-year-old grandson, Danny, both of Monroe, show off their catch from a sandpit lake near the Loup River. It could have been taken in any decade of Nebraskaland's existence, including today. We certainly hope each of you have experienced a day like this. Next issue, Nebraskaland will once again feature your Portraits from the Past. These can be submitted to jenny.wheatley@nebraska.gov.
