Some of the longest days of the year happen this month,
and there is plenty of time to fit in multiple outdoor
activities during the daylight. Take advantage of those
daytime opportunities, but don't forget Nebraska's starlit
skies offer recreational opportunities, too.
The last week in July is prime for night fishing,
culminating with a full moon on July 29.

of a place you usually spend your
afternoons and camp there overnight.
Or stay at a cabin. It's an entirely
different experience when you don't
have to rush back home before sunset.

No Telescope,
No Problem
Visit this year's Nebraska Star Party at Merritt Reservoir State Recreation Area
July 12-17. Even if you don't own a telescope, there will be plenty of people who
do, and they will be more than willing to share.
Family activities are highlighted by a beginner's field school that will teach you
how to explore the night skies — even in your own backyard.
During the day, the beaches of Merritt Reservoir offer places to dip your toes
in the water or bring your own boat. Lodging is also available. Find the complete
