JUSTIN HAAG
Somewhere New
Many seasons ago, a group of friends landed at Grove Lake in October for a cast
and blast day. While the casting was great, the fishing was slow, so I took to the
adjacent wildlife management area to dove hunt. That afternoon became one
of my favorite hunting memories ever, finding doves immediately, and always
serves as a reminder to hunt someplace new this year. Pick a spot on the map and
try your luck — whether it's for upland, small game, waterfowl or even big game.
Sometimes a simple diversion can introduce an entirely new tradition.
