What To Do in July
Go boating at Lewis and Clark State
Recreation Area
Throughout the month
Nebraska's second largest lake, Lewis and Clark Lake is popular for boating.
The lake has lots of access points, is typically calm and large enough that
you can usually escape the crowds. Boating opportunities don't stop at
Lewis and Clark; the lake also off ers access to the Missouri River.
Look for monarch caterpillars
Throughout the month | Statewide
Monarchs hatched in late July will make the 1,500-mile
journey to Mexico in September and October. View them
as caterpillars by searching for milkweed in prairies,
meadows, roadside ditches and grasslands. If you don't see
caterpillars, don't get discouraged; you can still appreciate
all the other species that use milkweed – on average there
are about seven of them at all times on a milkweed plant.
