30 Nebraskaland • November 2020 Outdoor Nebraska By Renae Blum November is rich with hunting opportunities, but that isn't the only thing to do outside. Fishing, wildlife viewing and park visits can all add up to a month fi lled with great outdoor memories. N Harvest your own Thanksgiving turkeys Throughout the month | Statewide Put something "wild" on the holiday table — serve a wild turkey or two that you harvested yourself. Not only does it give the non-hunter in the family the chance to try wild game, it's also a great conversation piece. Fish for trout at Lake Ogallala Throughout the month A good trout fi shery year-round, Lake Ogallala off ers the biggest trout in the state, up to 8 pounds and perhaps more. And unlike some species of warm-water fi sh, cold-blooded trout stay active and catchable into November. Bring a variety of baits and try your luck for a large trout!
