What To Do in March
Early spring
photography
Throughout the month
Statewide
Get out and document the
early days of spring. Waterfowl
migration and prairie chicken leks
provide some of this month's best
photography opportunities, as do
sandhill cranes in central Nebraska.
Late-season blizzards can also off er
beautiful scenery.
Snow goose hunting
Throughout the month | Central and
eastern Nebraska
Snow geese off er some of Nebraska's most
challenging waterfowl hunting. Watch for
bird concentrations on public lakes and
private fi elds. Setting up in the decoys is
a great tactic, and wearing white or snow
camoufl age will help you disappear within
your decoy spread.

Sandhill crane viewing
Throughout the month | Central Nebraska
Take in one of the world's greatest wildlife viewing spectacles: sandhill
crane migration. More than half a million cranes descend on central
Nebraska each spring. Most crane watchers visit areas between Grand
Island and Kearney, where the largest concentrations occur and resources
like viewing platforms and tours are available.
