May 2021 • Nebraskaland 27 What To Do in May Attract orioles to your backyard May through mid-June Statewide As orioles return to Nebraska, see if you can attract them to your yard with some sweet snacks, such as grape jelly, hummingbird nectar, oranges and grapefruit. Oriole feeders work well, but you also can place jelly in shallow dishes and hang fruit from a small nail. Remember to clean your feeding place every 7-10 days, and consider adding native plants and trees to your yard, which also attract birds.
