At that time, the limit was 35 ducks a piece. Curly taught his children and grandchildren to hunt, fish and love the outdoors. He served on the Game Commission for a period of time and was instrumental in the building of Sherman Reservoir, even donating the water rights to the project. Virgil owned Citizens Bank.
