Is It Haunted?
I
t seems any old building with
character is subject to reports
of paranormal activity. Fort
Robinson has many such
structures: about four doze n, in
fact, with construction dating back
to the 1870s. Combine the old
architecture with a steady stream
of overnight visitors and the fort's
history of conflict between the U.S.
cavalry and Native Americans, and
the conditions are ripe for ghost
stories.
Four investigators from the
Nebraska Paranormal Society,
an organization that researches
the existence of ghosts and
other unexplained phenomena,
conducted an investigation at Fort
Robinson State Park in 2010 after
hearing reports of phantom cavalry
soldiers, Indians and horses.
The investigators gave Fort
Robinson the same label as most
other locations listed on their
website: "inconclusive."
