You can enjoy foraging for mushrooms, hunting, viewing wildlife and visiting parks. N View and photograph orb weavers As weather allows | Statewide Beautiful spiderwebs make for a great photo. This month, look for webs made by orb weavers — a diverse group of spiders that build large, distinctive wheel-like webs. You can fi nd them almost anywhere: trees, shrubs, prairies, near streams and on buildings near lights. Examples of orb weavers include the marbled orb weaver, the yellow garden spider and banded garden spider. KEN BOUC, NEBRASKALAND Visit Ash Hollow State Historical Park Throughout the year | Lewellen Once an oasis stopover for pioneers on their journey west, Ash Hollow is still an attractive place to spend time. The park off ers numerous picnic tables and nine miles of hiking on beautiful trails, including one displaying deep ruts carved by covered wagons. Stop by Wednesdays through Sundays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., to explore the visitor center and Ash Hollow Cave — hours go to appointment only in November, so hurry over! ERIC FOWLER, NEBRASKALAND
