What To Do in March
Take a boater
safety course
All month | Statewide
Boating season is approaching — it's
a good time to prepare. If you were
born after Dec. 31, 1985, you need
to complete a boating safety course.
Several class options are available,
including an online format, so
head to OutdoorNebraska.org/
BoaterEducation to sign up.

View migrating
waterfowl at
Branched Oak Lake
All month if lake not frozen over
With approximately 1,800 acres of water,
Branched Oak is the biggest reservoir in
Lancaster County, making it attractive
to migrating waterfowl when not frozen
over. Vast fl ocks of snow geese visit in
early March, as well as Canada and greater
white-fronted geese. Bring binoculars and
check it out!

Fish for stocked trout
All month | Statewide
Each spring, rainbow trout are stocked in city ponds and state park and
recreation area lakes across the state. Get out and take advantage of
them! Trout fi shing is especially great for kids because they are relatively
easy to catch, so bring the family. Find the full stocking schedule at
OutdoorNebraska.org/FishStockingReports.
