Outdoor Nebraska
By Renae Blum
Take a break from the holiday craziness and savor time
outdoors. This could involve deer hunting, a scenic hike in the
snow or simply watching birds at your feeder.

Light Up the Fort
Dec. 2-31 | Fort Robinson State Park
Experience a local tradition 30 years in the making: See Fort Robinson's
historic buildings and grounds decorated with Christmas lights. Put up by
park staff and local businesses and groups, the lights are turned on each
evening through midnight and make for a fun drive with family and friends.

Winter hiking
Throughout the month | Statewide
Hiking in the winter can be just as fun as
it is in the warmer months. Getting out in
nature is a great form of exercise, improves
your mental health and boosts your mood.
It's also an opportune time to view wildlife.
To stay safe on the trails, plan your trip in
advance, tell someone where you're going,
dress for the weather, stay hydrated and
well-nourished, and hike with a buddy.
