Train to survey for butterfl ies
June 1, 1-5 p.m. CST | Schramm Education Center
Enjoy exploring nature while helping Nebraska's rare and at-risk butterfl ies. Sign
up for this training session, where you'll learn how to become part of the Monarch
and Regal Fritillary Survey. Volunteers like you will help biologists document
monarch and regal fritillary butterfl ies in Nebraska. Learn more and register by

Adventure: Trail Trek
Through Oct. 31, 2024 | Statewide
Looking for new ways to stay active and explore the
outdoors? A new program, Your Parks Adventure,
will help you do just that. Choose from over 40 trails
across the state, some of which are ADA-accessible,
and look for a sign that says "Trail Trek" located
along the trail. Then, you'll take a selfi e with the sign
and submit it online for the chance to win prizes,
including a Nebraska state park cabin stay. To learn

Once considered a hidden gem, Calamus
sees more visitors every year, with many
fi rst timers planning repeat visits. In
June, you can enjoy great fi shing for
walleye and channel catfi sh, as well as
boating on the reservoir and canoeing
or kayaking Calamus River. Take the
1.5-mile mowed grass trail up into the
hills for amazing overhead views of
the reservoir. Electric plus and basic
tent camping is also available; due to a
repaving project, all camping is fi rst-
come, fi rst-served for the time being, so
call ahead to check availability.
