Lincoln photographer spends more than a year photographing hawks in the Capital city. Photographs by Steve Andel OCTOBER 2015 • NEBRASKAland 47 Above: Two hawk chicks sit in their nest. They are about one month old and not able to get food on their own yet. The male and female bring food to them, which is about 4-5 times a day. Right: During the spring and summer months the hawks would catch and eat a lot of snakes. Many times they would eat them quickly, slurping down the tail end of the snake like spaghetti.
