people, places and approximate date it was taken. Photos will be returned.
Upper Left: June 29, 1948. My father, Loren Lorenzen, with a nice
stringer of black crappies caught from Johnson Lake. The fish were
caught on a jig and minnow from the face of the dam. The picture was
taken by life-long friend John Hatfield – both from Neligh, Nebraska.
Upper Right: August 1959. Pictured is a typical catch of channel
catfish from the Elkhorn River in Antelope County with my father Loren
(right) and his brother Lyle Lorenzen. The image was taken at Lyle's
farm near Neligh. My father would wade the Elkhorn drifting baits
along high banks, log jams or drop-offs. The tackle of choice was a
South Bend bamboo fly rod.
Left: Here is a catch of northern pike, 11 lb and 15 lb, by my father
Loren from Branched Oak Lake in August of 1973. He would wade
fish with floating Rapalas or Rebels.
A meal of pike was a delicious "fish boil." My father's recipe was
simple – bring salt water to a boil, cut pike into chunks, remove the
"Y" bones, and add red potatoes and onions.
